The yet-to-be-completed onsite rail system at Tampa International Airport finally has a name.

It's SkyConnect.

The name drew 45 percent of the 3,870 votes submitted for the  Name the Train campaign, according to a Tampa International Airport news release.

Gulf Glider was the second runner-up with 26 percent of the vote. Florida Flyer finished in third place with 15 percent, and JetStream was hot on its trail with 14 percent.

The Name the Train campaign was announced by Tampa International Airport CEO Joe Lopano on March 24. The campaign offered area residents a chance to learn more about the train and check out the train's unique design.

SkyConnect will transport passengers back and forth between the airport's main terminal, economy garage and new state-of-the-art rental car center.

The train will feature a design inspired by birds that inhabit the Tampa Bay region. Each train car will display an image of an area bird. Educational information about each bird also will be included.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America Inc. will provide the automated train system.

Tampa International Airport is perennially ranked among the top airports in the world.
