Polk County sheriff's detectives are investigating a suspicious death in the 12500 block of Country Place Road in Lakeland, officials said.

The sheriff's office received a call shortly before 11 p.m. Friday about a report of a possible stabbing at a residence on Country Place Road.

When deputies arrived, they found 32-year-old Gabriel Gamino with an injury to the face, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said. Gamino was taken to Lakeland Regional Health, where he died at about 11:50 p.m. Friday.

Gamino went to a neighbor's house for help then collapsed.
