Tampa detectives are investigating a crime involving a thief who stole money from a little league.

According to detectives, the thief stole money from the Tampa Bay Little League’s concession stand on Sunday morning while the teams were getting ready for the playoffs.

“All of a sudden we see people running down the street yelling bees bees. Turns out they weren’t running from bees, they were yelling thief,” Tony Dill, the president of the league said.

At first coaches did not know exactly what happened, but they still chased after the thief to a nearby area, trying to corner him.

“We decided that it was probably better (with) someone like that not being (in) the perfect state of mind not to go in after him. So we called the police,” Dill said.

Once people found out the thief stole money from the concession stand, they were disappointed.

“Oh I think the parents here were just upset that someone....someone would try and take from our kids,” Dill said.

The league said they use the money for their program.

Tampa detectives are still looking for the thief. If you have any information, you are encouraged to contact the Tampa Police Department.
