A PInellas County school bus driver has been charged with having sex with a high school student on a school bus, authorities said.

According to PInellas County sheriff's detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit, their investigation began on Friday, Oct. 28, after a Lealman Intermediate student reported the incident to school staff.

The 16-year-old girl told detectives her bus driver, 24-year-old Dondre Davis, had inappropriate sexual activity with her.

Davis first initiated contact with the victim a week before when Davis handed the student a paper with his Facebook chat ID, as she was getting off the bus, Pinellas County sheriff's detectives said in a statement. Davis and the victim started communicating on social media, where Davis flirted with the victim.

Thursday morning, Oct. 27, Davis drove the victim on the school bus to an undisclosed location off school campus, and had inappropriate sexual activity with the victim.

Detectives interviewed Davis at the Pinellas County Jail on Friday. Davis admitted to having inappropriate sexual activity with the victim, the release states.

Davis was arrested and charged with one count of Unlawful Sexual Activity with Certain Minors.

Detectives say that Davis is employed as a relief bus driver for the Pinellas County Schools.

The investigation continues.
