Pasco County firefighters are battling a three-alarm fire at Saddlebrook Resort, a prominent destination for sports enthusiasts, in Wesley Chapel.

The fire broke out sometime after 2 a.m. at 5700 Saddlebrook Way in the gated resort community off State Road 54 east of Interstate 75.

Firefighters fought the fire for more than two hours.

The fire started in a two-story resort complex, where attendees of a tennis academy were staying.

One of the students participating in the tennis academy smelled smoke and notified the other students, a Saddlebrook Resort official said.

About 40 guests were evacuated to the conference center, Pasco Fire Chief Shawn Whited said.

The parents of all students participating in the tennis academy were notified about the fire.

No information has been released about the cause of the fire.
