A single-vehicle crash on University Parkway in Manatee County claimed the life of a motorist Wednesday night.
A 2016 Chrysler van driven by Wallace P. Hough, 70, of Lakewood Ranch was traveling eastbound on University Parkway approaching Miramar Way in Lakewood Ranch shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday.
The van veered off the road, struck a raised median then crashed into a tree.
Hough was pronounced dead on the scene.
A passenger in the van, Janet L. Hough, 70, also of Lakewood Ranch, was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.
