A vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian lying in the street then sped away from the scene, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Shortly after 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, a vehicle of an unknown make and model was traveling southbound on U.S. 19/Suncoast Boulevard in the inside lane just south of North Larue-Denise Terrace.
The vehicle failed to stop for the pedestrian, who was lying in the street for unknown reasons. The pedestrian, Arthur Whitney Evans, 66, of Crystal River, suffered fatal injuries and expired at the scene.
State troopers are asking anyone with information about the incident or the vehicle involved to contact the Florida Highway Patrol by calling (813) 631-4020.
