A biker died early Sunday morning when he lost control of his motorcycle on Sixth Street South, approaching 42nd Avenue South in St. Petersburg, authorities said.
A Honda motorcycle was traveling southbound on Sixth Street South shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday, when the bike went out of control, St. Petersburg police spokeswoman Yolanda Fernandez said in a news release. The bike veered left and struck a curb.
The biker, whose name has not been released pending notification of next of kin, was thrown from the motorcycle and struck a pole.
The biker was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, where he was pronounced dead.
