The mother of baby Chance Walsh was found dead of an apparent suicide in the Sarasota County Jail, authorities said. The death is under investigation.
Kristen L. Bury, 33, was discovered by correctional staff at about midnight, Sarasota County sheriff's officials said. They administered life saving measures before she was taken by ambulance to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The initial investigation indicates a suicide, a Sarasota County Sheriff's Office news release states.
Baby Chance was murdered in 2015. Bury was sentenced in January to 25 years in prison for her role in the murder.
She was back in the Sarasota County Jail for court proceedings last week not related to the murder.
Bury was expected to testify against the father of baby Chance, Joseph, at an upcoming trial to start in November.
