Rihanna needs a helping hand from admirers.
At 42 pounds, the 6-year-old English bulldog has a long journey ahead to be 100% again.
But the best possible gift would be a new forever companion. The folks at Maxx and Me Rescue are trying to help make that a reality for Rihanna.
A pure breed bought from a breeder in Miami, Rihanna has experienced a checkered past.
She was surrendered to a Maxx and Me Rescue volunteer after her previous owner decided he couldn't care for her any more, a rescue agency report said.
Rihanna requires several medical procedures to get back on the road to recovery, which are scheduled to occur this week.
She is set for cherry eye surgery and a spaying procedure. Rihanna has had both double ear and eye infections and recovering from a skin condition.
Rescue volunteers are hoping to match Rihanna with a forever friend who is willing to invest in her medical treatment and get her on a diet to help improve her coat.
