MAP: Where can I get tested for COVID-19 in the Tampa Bay area?

TAMPA, Fla. — As coronavirus cases continue to rise in Florida, the demand for COVID-19 testing is as high as it has ever been across the state.

As of Thursday, August 27, the Florida Department of Health (DOH) reports more than 611,900 coronavirus cases in the state. The virus has killed more than 10,800 people in Florida.

With these alarming figures in mind, ABC Action News put together a list of where you can get tested for COVID-19 in the Tampa Bay area. Many of these sites offer free tests but you may need to book an appointment prior to showing up.

WHERE YOU CAN GET TESTED FOR COVID-19 IN TAMPA BAY

CITRUS COUNTY
The Florida Department of Health in Citrus County (DOH-Citrus) is offering no-cost COVID-19 testing by appointment. To make an appointment, call 352-527-0068 on weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Starting Tuesday, July 14, DOH-Citrus will no longer require appointments for its drive-thru COVID-19 testing site at the Citrus Springs Community Center. However, it will be limited to the first 150 individuals.

DESOTO COUNTY
The DeSoto Health Department is offering COVID-19 free testing. For more details on the testing locations, visit the DeSoto County Facebook page.

HARDEE COUNTY
The Florida Department of Health in Hardee is offering free drive-up COVID-19 testing for Hardee County residents. Testing information can be found on the Hardee County Emergency Management Facebook page.

HERNANDO COUNTY
The Florida Department of Health in Hernando County is offering no-cost COVID-19 testing. Call 352-540-6800 and choose option 1 if you would like to schedule an appointment for COVID-19 testing. Click here, for more details about testing locations.

HIGHLANDS COUNTY
Residents who want to be tested is asked to call the local health department at 863-386-6040. For more testing site information, click here.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY
Residents can schedule testing online or by phone at 888-513-6321. The call center is open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Testing will take place at one of the County's testing sites. However, testing will not proceed without an appointment.

Free testing sites in Hillsborough County include the following:

  • Lee Davis Community Resource Center, 3402 N. 22nd St., Tampa
  • Plant City Community Resource Center, 307 N. Michigan Ave., Plant City
  • SouthShore Community Resource Center, 201 14th Ave. SE, Ruskin
  • Tampa Family Health Centers, 12085 W. Hillsborough Avenue, Tampa
  • Suncoast Community Health Centers, 313 S. Lakewood Drive, Brandon
  • Raymond James Stadium, 4201 N. Dale Mabry Highway, Tampa
  • Redeemer Lutheran Church, 701 Valley Forge Blvd., Sun City Center
  • Wimauma Opportunity Center, 5128 SR 674, Wimauma
  • Tampa Family Health Centers, 12085 W. Hillsborough Ave., Town 'N Country *New

The county opened a new testing location in Town 'N County on Friday, July 17. It will provide tests Friday evenings from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. until noon.

MANATEE COUNTY
There are various sites throughout the county where residents can be tested at for COVID-19. For a full list, click here.

PASCO COUNTY
The Florida Department of Health in Pasco County (DOH-Pasco) is working with community partners to provide COVID-19 testing throughout Pasco County. Click here, for a list of current testing sites.

PINELLAS COUNTY
Residents can be tested for COVID-19 at various locations throughout Pinellas County. Click here, for the sites listed on the county's website. Click here, for information on testing provided by Community Health Centers of Pinellas. BayCare will have coronavirus testing in Lot 2 of the parking lots at the Tropicana Field.

DOH-Pinellas is teaming up with Pinellas Urban League to offer several pop-up testing sites throughout September and one date in October. Click here for those locations, dates and times. The testing at these locations is provided at no cost.

POLK COUNTY
Bartow Regional Medical Center (located behind the hospital) at 2200 Osprey Blvd., Bartow, FL 33830 is offering drive-thru testing between 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., according to the Florida Medical Association's website.

SARASOTA COUNTY
The Florida Department of Health-Sarasota County has this testing site search tool on their website to find a location near you.

OTHER TESTING SITES THROUGHOUT FLORIDA AND THE TAMPA BAY AREA

  • Baycare is providing Tampa Bay area patients without insurance, the opportunity to have a COVID-19 lab test for $85, which is not due at testing.
  • Florida Blue's website allows you to enter your zip code to find a site closest to you.
