Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco said his deputies tased a burglary suspect at a home in Port Richey when they were unable to subdue him. The suspect later died at an area hospital.

According to Nocco, the suspect identified as Torrey Lamar Robinson broke into an occupied home at
9226 Dresden Lane in Port Richey overnight. He entered the house through a window.

The suspect sustained multiple cuts then began fighting with one of the residents inside the home.

Pasco deputies and Fire Rescue first responders attempted to take the suspect into custody, but he continued to fight even as aid was being administered to him for the cuts.

The suspect was tased in an effort to subdue him, because he was combative and fought the deputies, Nocco said. The suspect was handcuffed, so he could be further treated for his injuries.

The suspect then became unconscious as Fire Rescue personnel worked to administer life saving treatment.

The suspect died at a local hospital.
