Tampa Bay area school districts announce plans to feed students during closure

TAMPA, Fla. — Amid the coronavirus pandemic, all Florida schools are closed until March 30 and local districts are announcing their plans to make sure student are still fed.

Hillsborough County

"Grab-and-Go" meals will be offered from March 23 to March 27 for children 18 and under. The locations will be open from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. daily.

Pinellas County

Meals will be offered at several sites to children 18 and under Monday through Friday. The child must be present to get the meal.

It will include lunch and breakfast for the following day. They will be "grab and go" and served in a drive-thru process at the car/bus circle. Walkers should go to the main entrance of the school.

Polk County

Meals will be offered at several sites from March 17 through March 20 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. The meals are available for children under 18 and the child must be present to get the meal.

There will be a drive up process to get the food, but if you don't have a vehicle the district says a walk-up section will be created.

Pasco County

Meals will be offered on a drive-thru basis at seven designated sites starting Tuesday, March 24. The pre-packaged meals are available for children under 18 and the child must be present to get the meal.

It will include lunch and breakfast for the following day. If you are planning to visit one of the sites, the district asks that you fill out this form to help better gauge the demand for meals.

The following locations will be open from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. from March 23 to March 27.

Meals will be offered to children under 18, March 16 to March 20 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Parents will be able to drive up and get the food. Children must be in the vehicle at the time, the district says.

The meals will include one lunch and one breakfast for the following day.

  • Crystal River Primary - Crystal River (front of the school)
  • Forest Ridge Elementary - Beverly Hills (front of the school)
  • Pleasant Grove Elementary - Inverness (Bus ramp)
  • Citrus High School - Inverness (Stadium road/Cafeteria entrance)
  • Central Ridge Elementary - Citrus Springs (Bus ramp)

Manatee County

Meals will be offered to students 18 and under at several locations from March 16 through March 20.
