A Pinellas County School bus driver is no longer driving students after leaving a child behind.
An internal investigation is now under way and the bus driver's job is on the line.
Pinellas County School officials confirm Monday morning a bus driver dropped off kids at Ponce De Leon Elementary school. Students got off the bus and the driver went inside for a brief period of time, the school department says "less than 5 minutes". When the driver got back they found the child alone on the bus.
Sources tell us the child was visibly upset and may have had special needs, however the school department won't confirm that detail.
We do know that the bus driver is no longer driving kids while an internal investigation runs its course.
We're told by school officials that we will get a report 10 days after the investigation is complete because that's their policy.
