The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid have released their hospital rankings for the year.
Just three Tampa Bay area hospitals received a top overall rating for patient care: Sarasota Memorial Hospital, AdventHealth Wauchula and AdventHealth Wesley Chapel.
Hospitals were evaluated on things like general information, survey of patients' experiences, timely and effective care, complications and deaths, unplanned hospital visits, psychiatric unit services and payment and value of care.
Seven hospitals in our area got just one star, including Lakeland Regional Medical Center and Manatee Memorial Hospital.
Rankings were not available for children's hospitals like Johns Hopkins All Children's in St. Pete and Shriners Hospital for Children in Tampa.
