Get involved on Dads Take Your Child to School Day

Dads can get involved by taking their kids to school on Dads Take Your Child to School Day Wednesday.

Pinellas County Schools will celebrate Dads Take Your Child to School Day on Wednesday, Sept. 26. The statewide initiative seeks to build partnerships to support children who need positive male role models.

Fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers, uncles, brothers, foster care fathers and other male role models will be invited to take their children to school. Additional information about Dads Take Your Child to School Day is located on theDOE website.

Some of the events happening are:

  • For the third straight year, Ridgecrest Elementary will host dads for coffee, juice and donuts. Activities will include conversation starters and table games. Each year there have been more than 250 students and dads to participate. Doors open at 7:45 a.m. with a brief program at 8:15 a.m. The event ends at 8:35 a.m.
  • Douglas L. Jamerson, Jr. Elementary School will host dads and father figures in the school's media center from 8- 8:45 a.m. for Donuts, Danishes, & Dads. The event is 8-8:45 a.m.
  • Pinellas Park Elementary will hold a soccer activity with Don Tobin, a former professional soccer player from England, as the featured guest. Tobin is a local youth coach and creator of the Tobin's School of Soccer Science. The soccer activity starts at 7:30 a.m., followed by an 8:05 a.m. breakfast.
