A natural gas leak in New Port Richey shut down SR 54 in both directions at Starkey Blvd. early Monday. Lanes began reopening around 11:30 a.m. after crews contained the leak.
The leak forced a nearby storage facility to evacuate as multiple response units secured the area.
Residents in the area were told to stay inside.
According to officials, a construction worker hit a six-inch gas line.
