Four-unit townhome complex on W. Sligh Ave. damaged by fire

Four townhomes in the 3900 block of West Sligh Avenue were damaged by fire early Saturday morning, officials said.

No injuries were reported.

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue responded to the reported structure fire call at about 3:15 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22.

When firefighters first arrived at 3913 W. Sligh Ave. they reported heavy fire and smoke pouring from one of the units, according to the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.

Crews made their initial attack and began a search for residents. 

It took firefighters about an hour to knock down the fire.

All four units received fire damage, displacing four families.

The American Red Cross was contacted and responded to the scene. Red Cross workers are assisting the families.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
