The boardwalk and picnic tables at Service Club Park in Venice went up in flames early Sunday morning, Venice city officials said.
Venice police are investigating the cause of the fire at 1190 Harbor Drive S.
City officials said someone lit the fire that engulfed the community boardwalk.
There is no walkway access to the beach at that location at this time.
According to Venice Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Michael O'Connor, firefighters responded to the blaze and a quarter-acre brush fire at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday. The fire was out and firefighters was mopping up the scene shortly after 5 a.m.
