Fire damages Family Dollar store in Dover

Fire damaged a Family Dollar store at the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Lindsey Street in Dover early Wednesday, authorities said.

The blaze broke out in the storage area shortly after midnight about 15 minutes after it closed, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue said.

It was classified as a 2-alarm fire in case backup units were needed. They were not.

The first indication the building was burning was when the burglary alarm went off at the store. Alarm company employees spotted the fire on the store's surveillance cameras.

First fire units on the scene were able to contained the fire to the storage area, But the rest of the store received smoke and heat damage.

All of the building's content is considered a total loss.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
