A Pinellas County man was arrested Sunday after leaving his two young children alone in a hot car for 27 minutes.
Pinellas County investigators got that number by pulling the time stamps off of surveillance videos.
A Good Samaritan saw the children climbing through the cars sunroof alone and called 911.
“I’m a father and kids get taken every day,” Sean Crockenberg said. Crockenberg saw the kids he says were two young girls ages 5 and 6 climbing through the sunroof and covered in sweat.
“I'm not a Good Samaritan, it is what a normal person would do, kids get taken everyday. The kids are safe right now. But, I could've been a predator and took the kids.”
Crockenberg said when Kevin Slane, 44, came out of the store and he questioned him about leaving his kids in the hot car, Slane didn't care.
“The guy came out like it was no big deal,” Crockenberg said. “He was like, ‘I left the windows down’ and then he started yelling at the kids for climbing out of the car because there were no parents.”
Slane now faces two felony counts of Neglect of a Child.
