Person standing in middle of I-75 SB struck and killed by multiple cars

Florida Highway Patrol says a person has been fatally hit by multiple cars on I-75 near at the Bypass Canal in Tampa. 

All southbound lanes near mile marker 264 at Fowler Avenue were closed from 3:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. on Friday morning.

Officers were dispatched at 3:24 a.m. and arrived on the scene at 3:32 a.m.

No information about the victim has been released but police say the victim was standing in the center lane of I-75 for unknown reasons when two cars collided with the pedestrian. The victim died at the scene of the crash. 

Southbound lanes opened back up just before 7 a.m. on Friday. Traffic is now flowing.
