Staff at the Humane Society of Tampa Bay desperately want to find a new home for three-year-old Ursula.

"This poor dog has been through the ringer," said Sherry Silk, CEO of the Humane Society of Tampa Bay.

Ursula, as staff call her, was found by county rescuers earlier this week in Brandon.

They tried to save her puppies, but all died in her womb.

Ursula was extremely malnourished.

She was full of fleas and nearly just skin and bones.

"We feel heartbroken for her because she's had such a rough start in life," said Silk.

Now Ursula is getting back to her normal weight, although still very thin.

She's a bit shy, but Silk says she gets along with all other animals.

"She's just sad and she's depressed." said Silk, "But I think she's going to be a lovely dog."

Silk expects Ursula to be ready for adoption by Dec. 17, just in time for Christmas.

"A family would mean everything to this girl," she said.

The adoption fee is $95, which includes her vaccinations and microchip.
