Dad of 5 finds a way to help people in need while supporting his wife, kids during the pandemic

TAMPA, Fla. -- Millions across are out of work and struggling due to COVID-19. Thanks to Feeding Tampa Bay, A local husband and father of five is helping thousands in need, and providing for his family.

"I got to give the glory to my lord and savior, Jesus Christ," said Kavarious Norton.

Norton has been with FTB for about a year and a half. He had a second job, then the pandemic hit. His other job had to shutdown. Thankfully, Norton was already in the process of becoming a driver for FTB, which provided him more hours right when he needed them.

"They are so good to me here," he said.

Management raves about him, saying he's a "hard worker, willing to help when needed and always positive."

They signed him up went through FTB's Fresh Force Training Program. They offer classes for people who want to work in the warehouse, culinary classes and CDL classes for people who want to be drivers.

"That's what I went through and they actually pay for you get your license," he said.

He delivers thousands of meals to people in need every week.

"It's humbling to me," he said. "I also look at those situations, that could be me."

Kavarious says he has no plans to leave FTB anytime soon. The job is much more than a paycheck for the Tampa Bay dad.

"Being able to provide enough food so people can pay a bill. It's a good feeling," he said.
