Hillsborough County leaders unanimously voted to approve a high-speed ferry service that would shuttle people between Tampa and Saint Petersburg.
The goal of the ferry service is to alleviate traffic across the Bay area. Leaders say more people on the water, means fewer drivers on the roads.
A pilot program could begin as soon as November if Tampa City Council green lights the project at Thursday morning's meeting at 9 a.m.
