A 7-acre brush fire sparked by a lawn mower engulfed two structures in north Lakeland Friday afternoon, authorities said.

A doublewide mobile home and a garage went up in flames, according to Polk County Fire Rescue. No value estimates were released.

Firefighters with Polk County Fire Rescue and the Florida Forest Service responded to the brush fire in the 10900 block of Sportsman Trail shortly after noon, Polk County Fire Rescue spokesman Kevin Watler said.

Dry conditions and heavy fire fuel caused the fire to spread quickly, Watler said in a statement.

The fire was brought under control at 2:40 p.m.
