A 15-year-old boy faces aggravated battery and armed robbery charges in connection with the shooting of a man at the Cove Apartments in South Tampa overnight.

The youth, whose name is not being released because of his age, is in police custody.

The incident occurred about 10:45 p.m. at the Cove Apartments, 4003 S. Westshore Blvd., the Tampa Police Department said. Police officers responded to a call of a reported shooting.

The victim, 20-year-old Sean Andrew Williams, had been shot in the arm.

A police investigation determined the teenage suspect arrived at the victim's apartment and demanded cash and other property items, a Tampa Police Department report said.

A fight broke out. During the scuffle the suspect fired a pistol, striking Williams in the arm. The suspect ran away.

An extensive air and ground search, including canine units, was launched. After about two hours, the suspect was located and taken into custody.

Williams suffered a non life-threatening injury. No further details were released.
