The landing gear collapsed on a small plane attempting to land at the Sun 'n Fun Air Show Saturday moring, officials said.
No injuries were reported.
Shortly before noon Saturday a 1976 Cessna 310R twin-engine plane experienced difficulty while landing at the annual weeklong air show at Lakeland-Linder Regional Airport.
The airplane's landing gear collapsed, causing it to skid off Runway 27L into a safety area, the Lakeland Police Department reported.
Juan G. Villanueva, 68, of Miramar, who was piloting the plane, and an unidentified passenger, were uninjured, authorities said.
The runway was closed for about one hour while emergency personnel remained on the scene. The airplane was moved to a secure area.
FAA officials responded to the airport for a preliminary investigation with plans to continue its investigation, Lakeland police said.
