On Saturday morning, just hours apart, a 99-year-old man and a couple 5 miles away who are 85 and 90 years old were attacked by a gunman demanding cash.

“When I opened my door that was it. I didn't have a chance,” Frank said. Frank asked that we not use his last name. The 99-year-old said he’s shopped at the same store for more than 25 years and never had a problem. He feels grateful to be alive after Saturday’s attack.

“He grabbed me by the neck and put the gun to my head, and the other guy took my wallet out and the cash, he didn't want the wallet even he took the money and threw the wallet on the ground,” Frank said.

Frank wasn’t injured, “just scared,” he said.

Manatee investigators said the crime against Frank was eerily similar to an attack hours earlier.

The victims were walking in their neighborhood in the 4000 block of 5th St. E., Bradenton when they were approached by the suspect. The suspect was armed with a handgun and demanded money.

“He took the male victim's wallet and fled the scene in a white pick-up truck. During the incident, the suspect pushed the male victim to the ground and the female victim was hit by the suspect when she tried to help her husband,” the release said.

Frank turns a hundred years old in February of next year. He said an early present would be getting his attackers off the streets before they strike again.

“Them bastards, they can’t keep doing this, sooner or later they’ll be caught” Frank said.

Anyone with information on these robberies is asked to call the MCSO at 941-747-3011 or Crime Stoppers at 866-634-TIPS.
