A Wharton High School student was stabbed several times by another student on Thursday afternoon.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's office, the incident started as a verbal fight between two students.
Investigators said a 15-year-old student grabbed a steak knife and stabbed a 14 year-old student multiple times.
The victim is said to have non-life threatening injuries.
NEW INFORMATION:
The 15-year-old suspect tossed the knife into a trash can in a boys' bathroom after the stabbing, according to deputies. It has been recovered.
The student has been arrested and will be charged with Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, Tampering with Evidence and Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds.
