A Tampa man had a baby in his car when he was arrested for drunk driving Thursday night, according to a sheriff's statement.
A deputy stopped a driver as a suspect in a hit-and-run crash shortly after 8 p.m..
The driver, John McGettrick showed signs of impairment and became hositle toward the deputy. McGettrick was handcuffed and continued to struggle, according to a sheriff's statement..
McGettrick was charged with DUI. Deputies said his blood alcohol concentration was .238 and .226. A driver is considered impaired when the BAC is .08 and above.
The 10-month-old baby was not hurt and taken to a relative.
McGettrick was charged with DUI, DUI accompanied by a minor and resisting arrest. He was booked into the Orient Road Jail.
