A 6-year-old boy was hurt after finding a gun in a diaper bag and firing a shot.
According to Tampa Police, the child was at Ballast Point Park on Sunday with his mother and her boyfriend.
Police said Ricardo Candelario Marquez, 37, from Tampa placed the gun into the bag, then walked to the fishing pier.
The child found the gun and fired one round just before 4 p.m.
The boy suffered a small abrasion to his upper lip from the recoil of the gun.
Investigators said no objects were hit and the bullet was not found.
The police report indicates Marquez was seen by responding officers trying to throw the gun into the Bay as police arrived.
Marquez has a concealed weapons permit.
He is charged with culpable negligence and tampering with evidence.
