Tampa woman claims $1 million prize in lottery scratch-off game

A Tampa woman has claimed a $1 million prize from the $5,000,000 LUCK Scratch-Off game at Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee.

Kaitlyn Metzmeier, 26, purchased her winning ticket from Linebaugh Food Mart at 5919 W. Linebaugh Ave. in Tampa.

The store will get a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.

The $20 game, $5,000,000 LUCK, launched in September 2019 and features more than $329 million in cash prizes, including six top prizes of $5 million. The game’s overall odds of winning something are one-in-2.97, according to the lottery.

Scratch-off games reportedly comprise about 69% of lottery sales and generated more than $965 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF) in fiscal year 2018-19.
