TAMPA BAY, Fla. — They're calling it a "new era of transit across Tampa Bay."

The Tampa Bay Mobility Alliance will launch this week and hopes to make a difference in our transportation issues.

TMBO will be a non-profit aimed at working with our government agencies to make it easier to get you from point A to point B.

"Because people that live in the real world will have to get from point A to point B and that might cross over government boundaries. So, how you get government to work together to utilize limited resources toward transportation so it actually in the real world will benefit an end user," says Joey Redner.

Redner, who owns Cigar City Brewing, is a donor to the project.

There’s three chairmen, one from each county involved: Roberto Torres (Hillsborough, owner of Blind Tiger Cafe), Andrew Machota (Pinellas, founder of Newtown Connections) and Bill Cronin (Pasco, president of Pasco EDC).

The group wants to listen to local residents and help be a voice.

"This is sort of like a think tank. We have three key ideas of what the Tampa Bay Mobility Alliance should be," says Torres.

The organization will focus on three main objectives:

  • To be an entry point for transportation solutions into the Tampa Bay area.
  • Be a safe place for transportation conversations and educate the community on the various transit projects aims and initiatives being proposed.
  • Produce and advocate for tangible results around transportation and mobility.

Every month the group plans on having free meetings or events that highlight transit organizations.
