HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — Hillsborough County leaders will hold a public meeting on Wednesday to discuss plans to reopen an intersection along Big Bend Road.

The proposed Big Bend Frontage Road realignment would include opening the northern part of the Simmons Loop and Old Big Bend Road.

To open this intersection, the county would have to move Old Big Bend Road (the frontage road) to the North.

County leaders tell ABC Action News this would help connect Gibsonton to Riverview and would help reduce traffic at nearby substandard intersections.

The realignment is one of many projects to connect Gibsonton Road and Paseo al Mar Boulevard.

In order to do this the project would require the use of several acres of nearby Vance Vogel Park for right of way and wetlands mitigation.

The County will hold a public meeting Wednesday, October 10 at 6:30 p.m. at East Bay High School cafeteria, 7710 Old Big Bend Road in Gibsonton.
