TALLAHASSE, Fla. (AP) -- As the coronavirus took root and began to spread in nursing homes around the country, at least 15 states took action to limit lawsuits over deaths, injuries and decisions at the facilities.
At least one state, New York, is apparently also shielding nursing homes from criminal prosecutions over care affected by the crisis.
At least three other states already had laws on the books that shield health care providers from being sued over their actions during emergencies, to some extent.
