Are you tired of waiting in the car-line to drop off or pick up your kids from school? A phone app created by a company right here in Tampa Bay is helping make the process a bit easier.

The "PikMyKid" app is creating a positive impact on a number of local schools.

Safety and security is no doubt top of mind for parents as kids head back to school. The PikMyKid app is giving some parents an added measure of protection.

DaySpring Academy IT director, Aaron White told ABC Action News it's pretty simple to use. It allows parents and school administrators to manage arrival and dismissal with a simple swipe.

"It's kind of a whole streamlined process, so it makes it much, much easier," said White.

The system was put into place at the New Port Richey school last school year.

"What's great about the app is that it's geo-located to the school. So, I can only announce that I'm at the school if I'm at the school," said White.

The app can also be used to notify teachers when a different person is coming to pick a student up. Literally providing a digital time stamp of the exact time kids are off school grounds. Whether they are picked up, catching the bus or walking home.

"Knowing where everybody's supposed to be when they're supposed to be there and who they're supposed to be with has been the biggest asset of this application," said school principal Tim Greenier.

The PikMyKid app is available for both Android and Apple devices.
