OLDSMAR, Fla. — After making a down payment of thousands of dollars for a backyard storage shed, an Oldsmar couple made a call for action to Reporter Jackie Callaway when the company failed to deliver the shed or refund their money.

Donald and Sue Mayo downsized into their new home in 2018. When they ran out of space for their stuff they decided to buy a shed.

The couple signed a contract for a $7,300 shed with Florida Shed in January. That contract called for a down payment of $2,400 and a delivery date of mid-March.

But by September, the Mayos said the company had broken multiple promises to either deliver the shed or refund the deposit. The couple said they finally bought a shed from another business.

“I kept calling again and again and again,” said Sue Mayo. “I just want the money back.”

Taking Action Reporter Jackie Callaway contacted the business owner, who said he’d been dealing with medical problems and his business had suffered. After ABC Action News got involved the owner of Florida Shed offered to pay the couple $500 a week until they were refunded in full and so far, the couple received the refund as scheduled.

“I was very happy, very pleased,” said Sue Mayo.
