Error on lender's part nearly cost family AC

The company that installed the air conditioning unit threatened to take it back.

Laura Couvertier and her husband Milton showed us the finance company's email approving the heating and air system.

Then two weeks after the system had been installed Renew Financial dropped a bombshell.

In an email the lender notifies the couple the financing for the unit has been denied.

The AC company demanded payment on the $8,000 system; money the family did not have. The couple says they lost sleep wondering if the system would be removed from their home in August.

We contacted Renew Financial's corporate offices and asked how they could approve financing and then withdraw it. A spokesperson explained:

“We take every complaint seriously and do our best to work with our homeowners to address their concerns. This is what we are doing in this case.”

The company not only apologized for the error. They offered to pay for the entire AC unit.
