Skip the long lines at the airport, sign up for TSA Pre-check

Posted
If you haven't signed up for TSA Pre-Check, the TSA is making it easier for you by opening a second enrollment center at Tampa International Airport.

It is also opening an enrollment center in Clearwater.

TSA Pre-check is a pre-screening program for low risk passengers to get through airport security lines more quickly than the general public.

With Pre-Check, passengers can leave on light jackets, shoes and belts, keep laptops and small liquids inside carry-on bags and go through designated screening lines, which are typically quicker than the general security lines.

The second Pre-Check Enrollment Center is located in the Blue Baggage Claim area next to Baggage Belt #7.

The Enrollment Center in Pinellas is located at 4004 Ulmerton Road, Suite 102 in Clearwater.

TSA officials say more than 30,000 Tampa Bay area residents have already signed up for the program.

The application cost is $85.

You must apply in person and be fingerprinted.

If approved, the TSA issues you a Known Traveler Number, or KTN, which is used when booking flights.
