CUPERTINO, Calif. — Apple is voluntarily recalling a limited number of older 15-inch MacBook Pro laptops due to a battery that may overheat.
The affected computers were sold between September 2015 and February 2017 and can be identified by their product serial number.
Apple says the recall does not affect any other 15-inch MacBook Pro units or other Mac notebooks.
The tech giant is asking its customers to stop using the recalled laptops.
If you do not know what model your Apple laptop is, you can find out by clicking "About This Mac" from the menu in the upper-left corner of your screen. Affected models will be the “MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)."
Customers should check apple.com/support/15-inch-macbook-pro-battery-recall and enter the serial number on the webpage see if their MacBook Pro is part of the recall.
Apple will replace the battery on all recalled laptaps for free.
