LAKELAND, Fla. — The second largest gathering of aviation enthusiasts in the world is happening in Lakeland this week for the Sun 'n Fun International Fly-In & Expo.

The six-day event runs from April 2-7 and it features air shows, educational forums and aircraft displays.

More than 250,000 people and some 3,000 planes will buzz into Lakeland making it the busiest airspace in the world over Lakeland Linder Airport on the 1,000-acre Sun 'N Fun campus.

The U.S. Navy Blue Angels will be performing daily shows demonstrating the pinnacle of aerobatic precision in their six F-18 Hornets.

Sun n' Fun's first choreographed drone light show, Star Dance Spectacular, will showcase 60 drones with lights flying in sync to music.

The event makes more than $430,000 of scholarship funds available annually to students in Polk County entering an Aerospace Industry career, all to cover the cost of flight lessons and/or college tuition for 4 years.
