Disney's Animal Kingdom celebrates 'The Lion King' with special summer food items

ORLANDO, Fla. — A live-action version of Disney's animated classic "The Lion King" roars into theaters on July 19.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Park is celebrating the release of the film with special "Lion King"-themed offerings.

From May 24 through the end of the summer, guests can enjoy the following tasty food and drink items:

Simba and Nala Waffles

Simba and Nala Waffles

Child-sized waffles featuring the faces of Simba and Nala. Available at Tusker House only during breakfast hours.

Simba Cupcake

Simba Cupcake

A yellow vanilla cupcake is filled with white chocolate mousse and topped with buttercream. An edible piece featuring Simba is placed on top. The cupcake is then decorated with a fierce mane of orange and yellow icing. Available at Pizzafari.

Simba Ice Cream Sandwich

Simba Ice Cream Sandwich

Vanilla ice cream is sandwich between two chocolate chip cookies which is decorated with an image of Simba and a chocolate tail. It is available at Tamu Tamu.

Bugs ‘n Grub Waffle Cone

Bugs ‘n Grub Waffle Cone

Chocolate soft-serve ice cream fills a green waffle cone that is topped with cookies and cream "dirt" crumbles, gummy worms and a chocolate beetle. Available at Anandapur Bus and Trilo-Bites.

Shaved ice is topped with watermelon and passion fruit-mango syrup. Available at the Shave Ice Cart.

Other special food items include: Simba’s Sunset Dole Whip, “The Lion King” Latte Art, Lion’s Latte, and the adults-only alcoholic Serengeti Sangria or King’s Cooler.

Animal Kingdom vendors are also selling limited-edition “The Lion King” Novelty Sippers and Popcorn Buckets, Long Live the King black youth T-shirts, Simba youth baseball caps, and Hakuna Matata adult T-shirts.

Guests can also take in a special "Lion King" dining experience on Wednesday nights throughout the summer. A train will whisk you to Rafiki’s Planet Watch where you can enjoy live entertainment while grazing on authentic African hors d’oeuvres.
