TAMPA, Fla.—Get ready to sample sweets from local vendors with 2,000 of your fellow dessert lovers! Dessert Wars is coming to Tampa on February 9 at Armature Works from 3 p.m. - 7 p.m.
“Dessert Wars is the sweetest event in the world, where we bring up to 50 dessert vendors under one roof,” said Brad Matthews, director of Dessert Wars. “People who buy tickets to this event are...not only foodies, but dessert lovers, because there’s nothing else [to eat] at this.”
This is the largest dessert festival in America, and it got its start in 2016. This will be the first year it ventures outside of Miami.
Tampa was chosen for its young crowds and fun foodie culture. The main purpose of Dessert Wars is to expose local dessert shops to a new crowd and share with people the next “best kept secret” in their own backyard. 200 applications were narrowed down to 50 of the best local vendors in Tampa.
General admission is $35 for 30 sample tickets, which can be exchanged for sweets at the different food booths. The festival hosts a wide variety of tasty treats, including cookies, ice cream, cupcakes, fried creations and even some gluten free options. You can look at the full list of vendors here.
And if that’s not enough, there is also a Donut Wall full of fresh donuts for guests to try, as well as a Milk Bar featuring different flavors of milk to wash down all those sweets!
Don’t worry if you can’t finish all your samples—each guest gets a to-go box to take their remaining treats home.
At the end of the event, two winners will be crowned. Each guest will get a token to use at the voting wall to determine the People’s Choice Champion. A panel of judges will determine the Judges Champion after sampling sweets from all the vendors.
Dessert Wars will be back in Miami on March 7 at Soho Studios. Want the largest dessert festival to come to your hometown? Keep an eye out—Dessert Wars will be branching out to more cities later in 2020.
