ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — ABC Action News works with local shelters to help find homes for dogs every Friday morning our Pet of the Week segment.

This week you have an opportunity to add a friendly dog named Karla into your home. She is a one-year-old Pit Bull Terrier mix.

Shelter workers say Karla would make a wonderful addition to an adult-only home. She loves giving kisses and will quickly overcome her shyness for treats and cuddles.

According to the American Kennel Club, terriers are intelligent, good-natured dogs who are excellent guardians.

With the help of their “guardian angels,” all adopters of Pit Bulls will go home with a crate, leash, collar, Kong toy, small bag of Science Diet, and a free initial vet visit at Pet Pal Veterinary Clinic where a 1-month supply of heartworm and flea prevention will be provided.

A group training class will also be offered by Pet Pal's certified trainer to provide guidance in leadership skills for all family members.

Karla is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and dewormed. Thanks to the Pit Project, her adoption fee is only $75. You must own your home to adopt her.
