Garth is a sweet guy who has suffered through a lot in his life. The 3-year-old American Staffordshire Pit Bull Terrier Mix was rescued by animal control officers following a horrific attack by his former owner.
He found himself at the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center in Tampa after his owner was charged with beating him in the head with a hammer. Despite this horrible act, Garth held no grudge towards humans.
The folks at Second Chance Friends took Garth in to give him the extended recovery time he needed.
Garth is now ready for a real home with a yard. Shelter workers say he's affectionate, likes toys, other dogs and pleasing humans. He would not do well in a home with cats or young children.
Garth is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.
