TOWN 'N COUNTRY, Fla. — Hillsborough County Schools dual language program continues to expand after much success at the three schools it started in.

Bellamy Elementary in Town 'n Country is one of those. The district launched the program about four years ago.

The students enrolled in the program work on a 50/50 model. They start the first half of their day in one language, like Spanish and then switch to the other language, like English after lunch.

"Most of these students only have one language at home and they're getting two languages. They're getting reading and writing in two languages. They become bilingual and they get a love for other cultures because we embed the cultures in our curriculum," says a Hillsborough County school representative

The data coming out of these programs and the success of these programs, also has the district expanding the dual language program to other schools.
