Deputies arrested a Pinellas Park man for robbery after he confessed to the crime and told authorities he had googled 'how to rob a bank.'

The robbery happened at the Achieva Bank located at 10125 Ulmerton Rd. in unincorporated Largo Thursday morning.

Detectives say the suspect approached the teller, implied he had a gun and demanded cash. After getting the money he left the bank on foot.

Authorities determined the man was 26-year-old William Johnson, and arrested him Monday night at the Express Inn he was staying at on US Hwy. 19 N. in Pinellas Park.

When they interviewed him, Johnson admitted to the robbery and told detectives he had googled "how to rob a bank."

He also told detectives he originally planned to rob a Wells Fargo, but changed his mind when he walked in and saw the teller was a large male.

He said he spent all the money he stole and had planned on robbing another bank on Tuesday.

Detectives say he used the stolen money to pay for rent, utilities and a drug binge.

Johnson was charged with one count of robbery.
