Sometime around 4 a.m. Monday morning a family fight turned deadly on Rio Vista Court.

Most neighbors we talked to on the quiet Spring Hill street had no idea there was even trouble.

Investigators said there were four people in the house: Jose Medeiros, his adult daughter, Nancy Walker, a friend of his and a woman renting a room.

According to details from the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, the group was socializing inside the home when a fight started.

The argument turned violent and Medeiros shot his daughter, deputies said. She would eventually die from her injuries.

The other two people in the home tried to get the gun away from Mederios, who then grabbed a knife and stabbed his friend.

The woman renting a room was able to get out and call for help.

Medeiros walked out of the house and waited for deputies. He was arrested and is charged with second-degree murder.

Neighbors said he took good care of the home since moving in.

There were still his outgoing bills in the mailbox this morning, right next to the crime tape.

There is also crime tape around the vacant house across the street, because that’s where Walker parked her car.
