MAP: Sandbag locations throughout the Tampa Bay area

To prepare for the impact of Hurricane Irma, the Tampa Bay area is providing several sandbag locations so that citizens can prepare for the potential impact. Don't forget, when picking up sandbags, you must provide proper identification that shows you are a resident in that area (valid Driver's license or utility bill will work as identification).

Tampa - Open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. until further notice

  • Bobby Hicks Pool - 4201 W. Mango Ave.
  • Barksdale Active Adult Center - 1801 N. Lincoln Ave.
  • Jackson Heights Community Center - 3310 E. Lake Avenue 

There is a 10 bag limit. Sandbags are self-fill. Staff is onsite to assist those in need.

In addition, the City of Tampa requests that residents with a storm drain on their property check to ensure that the drain is clear of all debris including leaves and trash.

Residents should report flooding issues by calling (813) 274-3101.  

The city of Tampa tells us by the end of lunchtime on Wednesday they had given out 13,000 bags of sand at their Tampa locations. In the past two days, a city spokeswoman said 28,000 bags of sand were filled. 

City of Venice - Wednesday beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Pasco County - Close at 8pm Saturday night

Sandbag locations are self-serve and are open to Pasco County residents. Residents should be prepared to fill their own sandbags, although various sandbag sites might have inmate assistance available. Sandbags are provided, but residents are encouraged to bring their own shovels.

Citrus County - Wednesday, Sept. 6 from 8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.

Limit 25 bags per vehicle

Hernando County - 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m starting Wednesday until supplies run out

  • Hernando County Fire Rescue Station 1- 1479 Parker Ave., Spring Hill
  • Ridge Manor Community Center- 34240 Cortez Blvd., Dade City
  • Pine Island Park-10840 Pine Island Dr. near Bayport (closed Thursday Sept. 7)

St. Petersburg - NO LONGER DISTRIBUTING SANDBAGS 

Due to the unprecedented demand for sandbags, the City of St. Petersburg has distributed its entire supply of sandbags. No sandbags sites will be open on Friday. The city gave out a total of 152,000 sandbags at six different sites over three days to help residents prepare for Hurricane Irma. 

Manatee County - No longer distributing sandbags. 

City of Bradenton - No longer distributing sandbags and unsure if distribution will resume.

Pinellas County - Out of supplies. No longer distributing sandbags. 

Pinellas Park- From 8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Sept. 7 or until sandbags run out

  • Helen Howarth Park - 6301 94th Ave.

Up to 10 sandbags each, must show proof you are a resident of Pinellas Park

Hillsborough County - Open at 1 p.m. Thursday

Hillsborough County is making sandbags available until 10 p.m. Thursday night at seven locations for residents preparing for Hurricane Irma. On Friday, sandbags will be available beginning at 8 a.m.
Sandbags will be available at the following units:

*    South Service Unit -  8718 Old Big Bend Road in Gibsonton
*    East Service Unit - 4702 Sydney Road in Plant City
*    South County Transfer Station - 13000 US Highway 41, Gibsonton 
*    Hillsborough Heights Community Collection Center at 6209 County Road

City of Gulfport - 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday

Materials will be available for Hillsborough County residents to make their own sandbags. Each resident must provide their home address and sign their name acknowledging the receipt of 25 sandbags or less.

Sarasota CountySandbag operations have ended in Sarasota County in order to give employees time to prepare for Hurricane Irma.
